THE PROBLEM
The buildings were situated over water treatment tanks with only a grated steel walkway as the floor. This made accessing the centre of the building with conventional wheeled booms difficult as it required 20+ metres of outreach.
THE SOLUTION:
We were asked to carry out a site survey and as a result we recommend craning our 22m lightweight tracked spider lift into the middle of the grated flooring. The stabilisers were only to be step up when the load was spread over the steel beams beneath the grated flooring.
THE OUTCOME:
This allowed the steel erectors access the the centre of the building and work from the inside.
We also provided a 20m articulated Manitou boom and one of our 28m Niftylift HR28 Hybrid booms to work from the outside of the building.
